The FTA has said a court ruling in favour of the French Government’s plan to clear part of the Calais migrant camp, is a “step in the right direction”. But the association said this is not the complete solution.
“FTA welcomes the decision to start clearing the Jungle camp in Calais,” said Pauline Bastidon, FTA head of European policy. “We appreciate the need for careful consideration – as the clearance of the camp could be seen as violating the fundamental rights of the migrants.
“However, considerations should also be given to the rights of our members to go about their work without fear of violence or intimidation.”
