The Freight Transport Association has warned operators to take precautions to against severe winter weather following Met Office predictions of heavy snow and ice in the coming months.
Malcolm Bingham, head of road network management policy, said: “Over recent years the Met Office has become more focused on the effects of severe weather and all road users need to take note of the warnings that are issued.”
