After two years of development, Geodis and Delta Drone will start the production phase of an automatic warehouse inventory solution that uses drones. The partnership are currently working on producing a system that can be manufactured – the production phase will be in operation by the end of this year.
The technology combines a ground-based robot equipped with a battery that provides the energy needed to navigate a warehouse, and a quadcopter drone equipped with four high-definition cameras.
Alongside this, the warehouse is equipped with indoor geo-location technology, and the technology operates autonomously during the hours the site is closed.
Last year development ended with the development of a complete “plug and play” solution that can be moved from one warehouse to another without requiring that any prior changes be made to the warehouse.
