Freight logistics firm Harbour International Freight is to make Trafford Park its new UK headquarters after agreeing a deal to let 43,000ft2 of industrial space at Merlin Park.
In a deal brokered by JLL on behalf of landlord Custodian REIT, the transport, customs clearance and freight forwarding solutions specialist has agreed a 10-year lease on Unit 4, The Furrows at a rent of £7.25/ft2. The move sees Harbour International Freight – a shareholder member of the Pall-Ex network, which operates more than 20 locations across the UK and Ireland – relocate from smaller premises in Eccles. This follows a period of sustained growth for the £45 million turnover logistics firm.
The deal is reflective of the high demand for space at Trafford Park, with JLL ensuring that Harbour Freight would occupy the unit immediately following the end of the previous tenant’s lease, resulting in no void period for the landlord.
Located within Trafford Park, with easy access to junction 9 of the M60, Merlin Park is home to a large mix of local, regional and national companies, with Harbour Freight set to neighbour nearby occupiers including Kellogg’s, Anglo Pacific International and The Green Group.
“The speed of this transaction is evidence of the high demand for quality modern warehousing at Trafford Park, which we expect to see continued well into next year,” commented John Whitehurst, Industrial and Logistics Senior Surveyor at JLL North West.
Custodian REIT plc was advised by JLL and BC Real Estate. Harbour Freight was unrepresented.
