Home delivery specialist Hermes is increasing the capacity of its national delivery fleet with 54 Euro 6 DAFs on contract hire from Ryder.
It has taken 30 four by two tractor units of which 20 are fleet additions and ten are replacements.
The deal also includes 24 12-tonne rigids which directly replace 7.5 tonners.
These new trucks now bring the total number of Ryder contract hire vehicles in the Hermes fleet to approximately 450 trucks. These operate from Hermes distribution hubs in Warrington and Nuneaton and 25 radial depots strategically spread across the UK.
“The key to the success of our business is having an efficient, reliable and cost-effective transport system,” said Rob Elmore, Hermes’ fleet services manager.
“We handle more than 200 million collections and deliveries per annum, via our network of 9,000 lifestyle couriers, and it is essential that this operation has the resources in place to meet the precise needs of our retail customers. Our relationship with Ryder ensures we have the flexibility to meet demand and continue to provide high levels of service.”
