Employees at the House of Fraser distribution centre at Wellingborough have been told that it is likely to close and the contract with Sports Direct ended from early April.
The future of the site, which is operated by XPO Logistics, has been in question since House of Fraser was acquired by Sports Direct in August 2018.
Work was halted at the site following the acquisition as a result of a dispute over payments between Sports Direct and XPO. According to the administrators, EY, XPO was owned more than £30 million by House of Fraser.
This led to a suspension of the HoF web site for a number of weeks until the dispute was resolved.
House of Fraser’s other distribution centre at Milton Keynes was closed in November with the loss of some 300 jobs.
