Swedish supply chain technology company Idnet has entered into a partnership with omni-channel fulfilment platform GreyOrange to provide retailers in the Nordic region with the latter’s autonomous robots and operating system.
GreyOrange’s products include intralogistics, autonomous picking, and goods-to-person systems. In addition to these robotic products, it also offers a warehouse management system (WMS) that it calls GreyMatter.
The GreyMatter WMS uses AI to integrate software, robots, and staff with the aim of optimising workflows and increasing operational efficiency.
According to a recent survey by the company, 70% of retail supply chain leaders are making automation a strategic priority in the next year. Furthermore, 98% believed that automation is the best technology available at the moment to assist in overcoming labour issues.
Per Redenius, Idnet’s Head of Supply Chain Solutions, agrees that automation is key, saying: “In order for brands to continue to improve their warehouses, they need to consider investing in automation, or they risk giving their competitors a significant advantage.”
