Inceptio Technology, a developer of autonomous driving solutions for heavy-duty trucks, has said that its autonomous trucks have surpassed a milestone of 200 million kilometres in commercial operations.
The company now has more than 2,000 autonomous trucks deployed across China, operating in the fleets of various logistics companies. These trucks are actively used on major freight routes throughout the country.
According to data from Inceptio, the deployment of its autonomous trucks has resulted in a reduction in labor costs by 20-50%, as well as a 3-7% improvement in fuel efficiency. This has reportedly led to an estimated annual saving of 6,000 litres of diesel per truck and a reduction of 15.8 tons of CO₂ emissions.
A joint study by Inceptio and the Chinese insurance company CPIC revealed that the company’s trucks outperformed human-driven trucks in key safety metrics, with improvements ranging from 75% to 99%.
In addition, the company has secured large-scale deployments with prominent logistics companies including STO Express, YTO Express, Yunyi Transport, and Huatai Logistics.
Inceptio delivered 400 autonomous trucks to ZTO Express. In September 2024, the company also helped launch the Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle’s Hi-Truck Tianlong Autonomous GX/KX Series, the first liquified natural gas (LNG) truck to feature autonomous driving technology.
