Michael Shorrosh is a senior operations executive with more than 15 years of experience leading large-scale fulfilment, logistics and supply chain operations. At Amazon, he leads one of the company’s largest robotics-enabled operations, responsible for approximately US$2.6 billion in annual throughput, more than 2,500 employees and 970 robotic assets.
Throughout his career, Shorrosh has focused on building operating systems that enable organisations to execute consistently at scale. He is passionate about helping organisations bridge the gap between technology investments and operational excellence by translating automation into measurable business results.
What will you be discussing at IntraLogisteX Dallas?
I’ll be discussing why the biggest gains in warehouse performance rarely come from doing more. They come from focusing on the few decisions that create disproportionate results. We’ll explore how leaders can identify the highest leverage constraints in their operation, build disciplined operating mechanisms around them, and use technology to amplify execution rather than add complexity. Sustainable transformation is less about chasing every KPI and more about solving the right problems exceptionally well.

What is the biggest challenge you see logistics and supply chain professionals facing over the next 12 months?
The biggest challenge will be separating signal from noise. Organizations are under pressure to improve everything at once while adopting new technologies at an unprecedented pace. Great leaders resist that temptation. They identify the few operational constraints creating the majority of the performance gaps, align their organizations around those priorities, and avoid wasting energy optimizing metrics that have little impact on enterprise outcomes.
What technologies do you believe will have the biggest impact on warehouse operations over the next five years?
Artificial intelligence will dramatically improve decision support, forecasting and operational visibility. Robotics, computer vision, and warehouse execution systems will continue making fulfillment faster and more efficient. But technology itself won’t be the differentiator. The organizations that win will be those with the leadership discipline to deploy these tools against the right problems, integrate them into a cohesive operating system, and continuously adapt as conditions change.
How should companies approach automation if they are only just beginning their digital transformation?
Start by understanding your operation before investing in technology. Every business has a handful of constraints that drive most of its performance. Find those first. Standardize processes, establish meaningful operating mechanisms, and create reliable data before scaling automation. Technology should accelerate a strong operating system, not compensate for a weak one. The highest returns come from sequencing transformation thoughtfully rather than trying to automate everything at once.
