John Lewis is to charge for click and collect orders under £30.
The threshold for online orders will take effect from 28 July, with orders over £30 remaining free of charge, while small orders below £30 will incur a £2 charge.
The store processes more than six million click & collect orders a year.
Mark Lewis, online director at John Lewis, said: “The change we have announced today will mean that the majority of orders will remain free of charge while allowing us to invest further in the expansion of click & collect to ensure it continues to delight customers as it grows in popularity.”
John Lewis will invest more than £80m this year in its click & collect supply chain function, with a further £100m being spent on IT infrastructure.
