Kier Property has started demolition works on Michigan Drive in Milton Keynes after the six-acre site was purchased from BL Balmoral Limited in July 2022.
The site is comprised of a 66,493ft² warehouse building and adjacent office block and is located 1.9 miles from Junction 14 of the M1 motorway, three miles from the centre of Milton Keynes and with the A5 just 4.2 miles away, the site provides access to the wider national motorway network.
Having secured planning in June 2024, Kier Property is commencing demolition of the original building to make way for a 125,647ft² industrial facility built to Net Carbon Zero standards.
This Grade A building with a green roof, high-efficiency LED lighting, 4 level loading doors, 12 metre clear height roof span, 14 dock loading doors and PV cells will also feature 12,787ft² of modern office space providing a balanced environment that meets the needs of both industrial operations and administrative functions.Â
Group managing director for Kier Property Leigh Thomas said: âWe are delighted to be able to announce this significant milestone.
“The location of this scheme is perfect for this type of development and our plans will see us create a new benchmark in energy-Â efficient, premium-quality industrial space when complete at the end of 2025.
“This scheme will be built using the highest quality materials and market-leading design.
“The development is targeting an EPC rating of âA+â, meaning it will be net zero carbon in construction and BREEAM rating of âExcellentâ.âÂ
