Kuehne + Nagel has deployed 35 new trailers in its European pharma fleet and expects to add another 45 by the end of the year.
It plans to expand the fleet by 200 trailers in the coming years.
The overland pharma fleet is part of the KN PharmaChain network, providing multimodal GxP compliant door-to-door shipping on a global scale.
The dedicated trailer fleet consists of standardised Schmitz Cargobull chassis with Thermo King cooling units (mono, bi-temp and double-deck equipment).
Uwe Hött, senior vice president overland Europe, said: “Logistics solutions for the pharma and healthcare industry are among the most important growth drivers for Kuehne + Nagel’s overland and regional business. This investment is part of our commitment to provide comprehensive, GxP compliant transport solutions for the industry, which can be tailored to specific needs. The continuous upgrades of our equipment and facilities as well as the on-going training of our dedicated pharma logistics experts are the centrepieces of our KN PharmaChain overland solutions.“
* JCB, the manufacturer of construction, agriculture and defence equipment, has awarded Kuehne + Nagel a contract to manage a new aftermarket parts logistics centre from a 256,000 square-foot facility in Miami, Florida.
It will service JCB dealers in the eastern United States, Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
K+N will manage inbound deliveries from JCB and its external vendors, storage and inventory management of 30,000 parts, and the picking of goods according to JCB customer shipment schedules. For complete visibility, transparency, and service improvement of all flows,
“JCB is committed to providing timely and reliable parts support for our dealers and customers around the globe,” said Clyde Shepherd, general manager of North American Parts Operations at JCB. “JCB’s partnership with Kuehne + Nagel at our Miami parts facility will ensure better parts availability and shorter delivery times for our customers, and an even better overall JCB ownership experience.”
