Lanchester Wines has purchased a fleet of 20 Toyota Tonero counterbalance trucks for use at its 440,000 sq ft distribution centre in Country Durham.
The wine firm trialled vehicles from three different brands before selecting Toyota. The trucks, which can lift up to 3.5 tonnes, will be use at Lanchester’s distribution centre, which operates 24 hours a day.
Tony Cleary, managing director at Lanchester Wines said: “We were really impressed when we met Toyota Material Handling at the Commercial Vehicle show. I found the team on the stand incredibly professional, they took time to find out about my operation and discuss with me how their products, both trucks and after-sales support could benefit my operation.”
In addition to its 3.5 tonne load capacity, the Tonero features industrial engines, a choice of transmission, and is fitted with Toyota SAS as standard. SAS constantly monitors forklift operations and automatically takes corrective action when it senses factors that could lead to truck or load instability.
