LCV demand has fallen by -4.2 percent in September, compared to the same time last year. This is according to new figures by the SMMT.
57,368 new LCVs were driven off forecourts last month.
According to the research, demand for heavier vans and pickups was broadly stable, both seeing rises of 0.1 per cent and 0.4 per cent respectively.
“Business confidence has taken a hit recently as economic and political uncertainty continues, so fluctuations in purchasing patterns are to be expected,” said Mikes Hawes, SMMT chief executive. “We must remember that the van market remains at a historically high level but growth will depend on better economic conditions and business confidence, something government must prioritise.”
