Lidl has secured planning permission form Bexley Council to build a new regional distribution centre at Belvedere in East London.
The 469,525 sq ft facility will be built on a 25.54 acre site. It will have 21m eaves as well as 77 dock levellers as well as parking for 63 HGVs and 164 cars.
The RDC will be cross-docked and will be split across two storeys. The ground floor will comprise a large warehouse area and a chiller / freezer warehouse. The first floor will include offices, measuring 67,123 sq ft, a plant room and staff welfare facilities including changing rooms and shower facilities
The new facility will combine with discount retailer’s existing 312,153 sq ft distribution centre and will service the company’s expansion plans in the capital. Currently Lidl serves 44 stores across the capital from this site.
