Logistics companies are among the leaders in hiring young apprentices, according to Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership, which has launched a campaign to boost career and apprenticeship opportunities available locally.
Many Northamptonshire companies and industry bodies have already signed up to support the Bright Futures campaign will run throughout 2015. It profiles prominent local employers already investing in their young employees, and local schools have contributed significantly via focus groups to ensure the messaging is relevant and credible.
Schools have also been encouraged to take advantage of displays in their careers offices, a range of digital materials available as screen savers, and Pop-Up Job Shops which will be placed at 10 Northamptonshire schools in April and May.
Recent research commissioned by NEP provides evidence of significant support for young people across Northamptonshire’s strongest sectors including logistics, high performance technologies, food & drink, and creative & cultural.
Some 93 per cent of participating businesses indicated that they would consider employing an apprentice. 70 per cent of companies taking part in the survey have previously employed an apprentice and 87 per cent rated their experience as positive and 77 per cent as very positive.
