Logistics companies are increasingly asked for carbon footprint calculations by clients, the Energy Saving Trust has said. According to the trust many of these companies are missing business opportunities because they aren’t able to calculate their carbon footprints.
According to the trust, logistics companies can save £5,000 per truck per year by correctly calculating and reducing carbon emissions.
“This proves that reducing your carbon footprint is not just about corporate social responsibility or even meeting regulatory requirements,” said Colin Smith, certification manager, transport at EST. “It also makes sound business sense. And accurately measuring your carbon footprint has to be the first step in that process.”
