3PL Rhenus Logistics has pre-let a warehouse facility at Peel Logistics Port Salford scheme in the North West.
The company is relocating its Manchester headquarters and operations to this site due to the expiry of the lease on its existing site. It sees the site as an exciting opportunity to support further growth and development of the company on the edge of the Port Salford tri-modal logistics site in a key location on the western edge of the Greater Manchester conurbation.
The new facility has 50,570 sq ft of warehouse space as well as 10,120 sq ft of two-storey office space. It benefits from 10m eaves, 16 dock and one level access door as well as 81 car and 16 HGV parking spaces. The facility is set to open in 2017 and will be built to BREEAM Very Good rating.
The 3.8 acre site is on the edge of the Port Salford tri-modal logistics site and the proposed development will complement activity on that site and further enhance the significance of Port Salford as a nationally significant logistics hub.
The first phase of the Western Gateway Infrastructure Scheme (Part WGIS) which forms part of the wider Port Salford development is currently under construction and is scheduled to be completed in 2016. This will enable traffic that currently uses the A57 to bypass Peel Green and will provide a new crossing over the Ship Canal to the east of the M60 Barton Bridge for local traffic. It will improve local accessibility and traffic conditions on the M60.
