At this year’s Sustainable Supply Chain Conference, returning to 30 Euston Square in London on 24 June 2025, Logistics Manager will host a panel discussion on the benefits of sustainability certification with experts from B Corp certified organisations.
The discussion will be moderated by Logistics Manager’s deputy editor James McLoughlin and will see experts from three different B Corps discuss the different sustainability certifications available to businesses, the benefits of B Corp certification, how the B Corp certification process works, and much more.
Session title: Sustainability certifications and standards: building trust, commitment and community
- B Corp certifications and their significance
- The benefits of certifications in building trust with consumers and stakeholders
- Challenges and best practices for navigating the certification process
The first expert on this panel is Alex Florea, head of sustainability at cult British skincare manufacturer and brand Medik8.
With a background in change management, Alex began her sustainability career more than decade ago with the Marks & Spencer’s Plan A team.
Having delivered a wide variety of projects in all areas of sustainability, she then shifted to the beauty sector with Boots No7 Beauty Company in 2020. Her notable achievements include launching the ‘Recycle at Boots’ scheme, as well as securing Leaping Bunny accreditation for brands in the No7 portfolio.
Since joining Medik8 in 2022, Florea has developed and launched the company’s ESG strategy and led it to become B Corp certified. Having delivered a presentation at the 2024 Sustainable Supply Chain conference on B Corp as ‘the blueprint to business as a force for good’ – in which she took attendees through Medik8’s journey towards B Corp certification – Florea is the perfect addition to this panel.
Joining her on the panel for this discussion is Ashleigh Horn, responsible sourcing and sustainability manager at COOK Trading – a family-owned, founding UK B Corp, which specialises in hand-prepared frozen meals.
COOK believes there is a better way of doing business than the conventional capitalist approach that pursues profit at all costs, and in 2013, the company became one of the UK’s first certified B Corp organisations
With over a decade of experience in food manufacturing and sustainability, she leads COOK’s B Corp certification and drives efforts to create positive impact across the company’s entire internal operations and supply chains.
Also on the panel will be Ruby Harlow, sustainability and foundation manager at Belazu, which supplies responsibly-sourced Mediterranean and Middle Eastern ingredients for chefs and home cooks.
Harlow is responsible for leading Belazu’s ‘The Journey Matters’ strategy and delivering the mission of the Belazu Foundation.
Passionate about building a healthier and more sustainable future, she is a content contributor at sustainability newsletter Following the Footprints and was named on edie’s ’30 under 30′ list of future leaders of sustainability in 2024.
The conference, which will be held at 30 Euston Square, is a one-day face-to-face event where delegates can hear directly from industry-leading speakers about how business sustainability can influence their bottom line. It is totally free to attend for buyers of logistics services.
Innovation will continue to drive supply chain sustainability in the years to come. At the Sustainable Supply Chain Conference, delegates will learn how to ‘go green’ throughout their end-to-end operations, discussing topics such as the decarbonisation of road freight transport, the importance of industry collaboration to meet sustainability goals and how sustainable practises can actually be used to drive sales. Overall, the conference will consider the environmental and human impact of products, from cradle to grave.
From raw materials sourcing, production, storage and delivery to every transportation link in-between, the journey is not easy – the complexity of many supplier relationships and border crossings makes supply chain sustainability extremely challenging. But the payback for getting it right is priceless, delivering on the three ‘P’s of the bottom line – people, profits and the planet.
Amongst the list of speakers already announced for the conference are representatives of organisations such as NHS England, Bidfood, Haleon and OLPRO, as well as sponsors of the conference Descartes and Aurora Insights. Keep an eye out on Twitter and LinkedIn for more information on the event’s speakers as the conference draws closer.
