Maersk is to increase its inland haulage rates from 15th October to reflect rising costs in the haulage market.
It cited a number of factors – in particular:
* Road congestion and extensive roadworks on some trunk routes
* Shortage of qualified drivers
* Rail capacity fully use throughout the UK
* Lineside engineering works
* Congested inland depots
* Port congestion – particularly Felixstowe following migration to new IT system
* Rising oil prices.
