The Mercedes Formula One team has signed a four year logistics deal with DB Schenker covering logistics services for all the European Grand Prix as well as tests and promotional events.
DB Schenker has taken delivery of five Mercedes-Benz Actros tractor units which will transport the Silver Arrows racing cars.
Last year the Mercedes team, which is based in Brackley near the Silverstone circuit, dominated F1 with Lewis Hamilton taking the driver’s championship from team-make Nico Rosberg.
Toto Wolff, head of Mercedes Benz Motorsport said: “The highest degree of professionalism and precision is indispensible in Formula One, a consideration which also applies to our logistics services.
“We are pleased to welcome DB Schenker to the team as our new logistics partner and we have no doubt that they will provide excellent service and be able to respond to the changing circumstances with the necessary flexibility and speed required in Formula One.”
DB Schenker’s services will include transport of the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 W06 Hybrid racing cars, garage equipment and motorhome.
Jochen Müller board member of Schenker Deutschland said: The Mercedes AMG Formula One Team relies on top performance, not only in motor sport but also in terms of logistics. That is why for us, as a sports logistics expert, it is a great honour that the team has placed its trust in DB Schenker as its logistics partner.”
