Iveco has outlined its vision for the use of natural gas as a replacement of diesel for commercial vehicles.
The vehicle manufacturer said that its new product provides a ‘viable solution for regional, national and international transport missions’ with a range of 1,500km on LNG-powered Stralis 4×2 models. “Gas offers the widest range of opportunities to replace diesel in the commercial vehicle market – it’s no longer a fuel of tomorrow, it’s a fuel of today,” said Nick Pemberton, director of Iveco’s Truck Business Line.
Martin Flach, Iveco product director said: “We have broken down the boundaries that made natural gas a ‘niche’ segment, and we’re seeing the booming development of natural gas refueling stations across Europe. There literally isn’t a week which passes without a new refueling site being opened.”
