DB Cargo, the UK’s largest rail freight operator, has appointed Dirk Nolte chief operating officer, following the restructuring of the business last year. At the same time, Roger Neary has been appointed head of sales.
In April last year, DB Cargo UK set out plans to cut around a third of its workforce, some 883 hobs, as part of a restructure prompted by the declining coal market.
Chief executive Hans Georg Werner said: “We have emerged from last year’s restructure a more efficient and resilient company, and Dirk and Roger will have a pivotal role to play in maximising the benefits of the changes we have introduced.”
