Derby based Conder Developments has secured detailed planning permission to build an 118,000 sq ft speculative high bay distribution warehouse on its Dove Valley Business Park at Foston, Derby, with works to commence on site early September.
The £12m project is in response to continuing demand for distribution units with a lack of supply, mainly resulting from very few new-build schemes over the last six years. Dove Valley Park is well established with over one million square feet of buildings already occupied by Kuehne + Nagel, JCB, Dairy Crest, Futaba, Myriad Products and Truma, overall employing over 1200 people.
Paul Shanley, MD of Conder commented “this is a major commitment by our Group to DVP and the local economy in developing a state of the art distribution unit. Having researched the market, we believe this to be the ideal size and already have several occupiers requesting details. Construction works commence on site shortly with completion by the end of March 2016”.
Stephen Salloway of joint agents Salloway Property Consultants, believes the move comes at the perfect time. “The market is desperately short of good quality stock, particularly in the warehouse sector. We are experiencing increased numbers of enquiries from logistics companies and on-line retailers looking to improve and grow their distribution networks. Dove Valley Park is exceptionally well located on the A50 and we expect DVP118 to generate significant interest.”
