A new 110,000 sq ft distribution centre has been unveiled in Wigan’s South Lancs Industrial Estate, Ashton-in-Makerfield. The site has planning permission for a further 70,000 sq ft.
M6 EPIC 110+ has 100,000 sq ft of distribution space with 10,000 sq ft of offices and is capable of being expanded up to 180,000 sq ft. It boasts 12.5m eaves, 10 dock and two level access doors a 50m deep yard and 50n/sqm floor loading. It has 23 trailer and 122 car parking spaces. It is being marketed through CBRE, B8 Real Estate and Moriarty & Co.
The property has been forward funded by Legal & General Property. The M6Epic scheme can still accommodate a single unit up to 430,000 sq ft.
Developer db symmetry said the facility will be attractive to national distributors, possibly in the retail or home improvement sector.
“A new logistics centre like this shows the confidence that people are having developing in Wigan and bringing industry to Wigan,” said councillor David Molyneux, Wigan Council’s deputy leader. “This is a fantastic opportunity to create more jobs in the borough.
“Location-wise we are good if not better than a lot of areas in the North West due to our proximity to the national motor network.
