Ocado Intelligent Automation (OIA), part of Ocado Group, will provide automated fulfilment technology for pharmaceutical distributor McKesson Canada, marking the company’s first deal to provide technology for a non-grocery retailer.
Ocado’s shares saw an increase yesterday after the announcement of the deal.
One of its key offerings are software applications powered by artificial intelligence (AI), which are needed to power its technical solutions long-term.

The tech solutions provider will receive upfront payment during the construction process ,with final payment set to be received upon final installation.
Ongoing yearly fees will also be applied for the servicing and maintenance its solutions.
