Panther Warehousing has signed a two year contract with Habitat to deliver all orders weighing more than 31 kilograms, or those that are bulky enough to require two-man delivery.
The Northampton-based company will also continue to deliver large furniture such as sofa’s and beds for Habitat to customers, seven days a week – which it has done for the past two years.
Gary McKelvey, commercial director at Panther, said: “We are delighted that Habitat, a brand that has been at the forefront of design for more than 50 years, has chosen Panther as its delivery partner for large and heavy items of home furniture.”
Habitat was part of the Home Retail Group, which Sainsbury’s acquired in September 2016. It continues to operate five separate stores, but states that 85 per cent of customers come through online retail. It also operates a network of mini-Habitat stores within Sainsbury’s stores.
Kevin McQuillan, supply chain and distribution manager for Habitat, said: “By offering bespoke delivery options every day of the week, our customers can feel more confident in purchasing big ticket items how and when they want with the knowledge that delivery can be easily suited around their own busy lifestyles.”
