Darlington Council has granted outline permission for the second phase of Tritax Symmetry’s 90-acre Symmetry Park Darlington in the North East.
The second phase of the scheme, following the letting of the first phase totalling 1.5 million sq ft to Amazon, now has outline permission for up to 630,000 sq ft of B1 and/or B2 and/or B8 uses comprising an office/industrial development; ancillary development including restaurants/cafe (A3/A5), Public House (A4), Hotel (C1), and Petrol Filling Station (Sui Generis); together with other associated works with all matters reserved
There are two main land parcels (separated by a building which is currently under construction) but linked via the access road as well as related drainage and other infrastructure.
Planners Lichfields put forward two possible scenarios to the council indicating the potential for the 36.2 acre site.
It is anticipated that the development would comprise a single warehouse unit on the northern plot up to 577,500 sq ft with a smaller unit on the southern plot of 50,000sq ft or else a combination of units from 25 – 115,000 sq ft .
It estimates the development value will be in the range of £30m, and between 715 and 800 jobs would be created once completed.
Letting agents on the scheme are Gent Visick, Carter Jonas and Colliers.
