Solent Stevedores which operates at the Port of Southampton saw a record-breaking year in 2021 of bulk shipments with more than 1.2m tonnes handled.
Since 2016, the dry bulk terminal operator at the Port of Southampton has been handling more than 1 million tonnes of bulk each year with the latest figures reaching 1.257 million tonnes – an 18% increase compared to 2020.
The company handles various loose bulk goods, such as grain, gypsum, scrap metal, and aggregates.
Tom Dynes, Operations Director at Solent Stevedores, said: “Year on year we’re seeing increases in the volume of bulk we are handling at the Port of Southampton and it is a great news to be heading into the new year with such a strong start.
In addition to the operations at the UK’s leading Export Port in Southampton, Solent Stevedores undertakes both one off and regular dry bulk shipments at the Port of London, Immingham and St Helier in the Channel Islands.
