Retail supply chain specialist Noatum Logistics has taken a speculative warehouse on the second phase of developer Tritax Symmetry’s 95-acre Symmetry Park Biggleswade scheme, two months before practical completion of the unit.
The 230,000ft2 building, the largest unit on phase two at the Park, was let on a 15-year lease and comes after the company secured a major contract with a luxury clothing brand.
This unit is linked to the new 2MW energy centre which has been installed on site and represents the first joint enterprise project between Tritax Symmetry and sustainable energy solutions provider, BasePower, to supply tenants at the new Biggleswade development with uninterrupted energy services and greener, cheaper energy. The unit is being built to net zero carbon in construction in line with all Tritax Symmetry’s new buildings within its portfolio.
The project team includes: Readie Construction; Savills (project management); Feasibility (QS); AJA Architects; Dunwoody (MEP); Hydrock (Civils & Structures) and Woods Hardwick (Planning).
Speaking about the letting, Tom Leeming, development director at Tritax Symmetry, commented: “Noatum’s decision to take our largest unit on a 15-year lease at Biggleswade and, in doing so, sign up to the new energy centre, demonstrates the progress we have made in providing sustainable long-term solutions for our clients. With Bond International already having committed to take unit 5, this means 60% of the site is already committed 3 months prior to PC and leaves the 75,000ft2 and 160,000ft2 buildings available with occupier discussions ongoing.”
Colliers and Bidwells are joint letting agents for the scheme. Cushman & Wakefield advised Noatum.
