The Road Haulage Association (RHA), backed by 40 senior cross-party parliamentarians, has written to Chancellor Rishi Sunak, urging the introduction of an essential user rebate of 15 pence per litre for hauliers and coach operators.
They’ve also asked the Chancellor to delay the removal of rebates for red diesel to protect vital businesses in the incredibly challenging operating environment they face.
The RHA is also calling for a cut in fuel duty to control escalating costs.
“The last fuel duty freeze was welcome but now the Chancellor must go even further,” said Richard Smith, Managing Director, RHA.
“Without a fuel duty rebate, hauliers and coach operators will be left with no alternative but to pass on increased costs to their customers adding to inflation – the brunt of which will faced by ordinary consumers.”
