CMA CGM’s 5,095 TEU White Shark has been refuelled with sustainable marine bio-fuel while calling at Rotterdam as part of a trial by GoodShipping Program which includes IKEA Transport & Logistics Services, CMA CGM and the Port of Rotterdam.
The bio-fuel oil was developed by sustainable marine biofuel provider GoodFuels. The second-generation bio-fuel oil is derived from forest residues and waste cooking oil products. It is expected to deliver 80-90 per cent well-to-propeller CO2 reduction versus fossil equivalents. It virtually eliminates sulphur oxide emissions without requiring engine modifications.
