Royal Mail has expanded its parcels operations in Spain with the £14.5 million acquisition of Redyser Transport.
Redyser, which is based at Murcia in southeast Spain, will become part of Royal Mail’s GLS business, strengthening its position as the second biggest express operator in the country.
Royal Mail bought ASM Transport Urgente in June 2016.
Redyser generated €45m revenue last year, delivering some 14 million parcels a year through a network of over 200 agencies and franchises and 12 own operated sites.
The business will be consolidated into GLS’s existing Spanish operations.
GLS chief executive Rico Back said: “Following the successful acquisition and integration of ASM, Redyser supports our strategy to scale up and grow existing businesses in our core markets. Redyser will help GLS provide a broader offering and expand our presence. Redyser customers will benefit from a strong European network.”
