In addition, Royal Mail has extended opening hours from Monday to Saturday in 1,200 delivery offices across the UK in main cities and towns. The parcel delivery company has also recruited 19,000 seasonal workers, and opened 10 additional parcel sort centres over Christmas, as a part of Royal Mail’s “financial commitment at Christmas to handle the festive mail bag.”
“Opening some of our busiest delivery offices on Sundays all year round has been a great success,” said Sue Whalley, Royal Mail’s chief operations officer. “In these offices, Sundays is one of the most popular days for parcel collection by our customers.”
