Fowler Welch, the distribution business of Dart Group, increased revenue by seven per cent to £88.9 million in the first half, though operating profit was down marginally at £2.3m.
The group said the sales growth was due to new business wins, however, it said that ambient performance was week than anticipated and varying chilled volume profiles at certain depots less to some inefficiencies as customer service levels were maintained.
Integrated Service Solutions, the joint venture which ripens fruit, contributed an increased share of profit year-on-year.
Dart Group revenue for the half year was £2.2 billion, 36 per cent up 2017, while operating profit rose 68 per cent to £350m.
