Truck maker Scania is collaborating with Smurfit Kappa to cut the storage space required for its truck window packaging by 50 per cent to drive transport savings.
Scania transports its truck windows using four different materials, including wooden pallets and expanded polystyrene. It will replace some of the materials used in its supply chain with honeycomb. The sustainable paper-based packaging will also enable Scania to achieve transport saving as storage space is reduced by 50 per cent.
“Scania Parts Logistics depends on an optimised supply chain so we can guarantee our customers a first-class service,” said packaging engineer Brechtel Coox.
“After a comprehensive review of the challenging brief that we presented them with, Smurfit Kappa managed to present us with an ingenious solution that exceeded all our expectations.”
