Investor Mayfair Capital has secured the wholesale redevelopment of Brunel Retail Park in Rose Kiln Lane, Reading to provide space for a two unit logistics scheme totalling some 150,000 sq ft.
The 8.64 acre plot currently provides approx. 160,000 ft2 of retail space let to occupiers such as Halfords, Pets At Home, Shoe Zone and B&M however out of he 11 units, there are three vacant and a further three units currently with occupiers that are in administration.
The new warehouses will be built to BREEAM Very Good with Unit A totalling 46,000 ft2 and Unit B 98,000 ft2.
Planning consultants Quod, which submitted the plans on behalf of Mayfair, said ongoing changes to the retail industry have been exacerbated by the Covid 19 pandemic and the “dramatic shift to online shopping” favoured transforming “all or part” of the site into industrial warehouse use for logistics and stock.
