Contract logistics provider GXO Logistics has implemented a large-scale robotics solution for a major global sporting goods retailer in Europe.
The solution has been introduced to enhance order processing speed, adaptability to seasonal demand fluctuations, as well as boost overall operational efficiency.
Rui Marques, managing director of GXO France, said: “This tote-to-person solution, integrated with high-density storage, enables high-volume picking, storage and operating efficiency in our warehouse.

The robotics solution spans more than 12,000 square metres and was installed to transform in the retailer’s omnichannel supply chain within the region.
It comprises approximately 500 autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) managing 70,000 bins on storage racks that are 5.5 metres tall. These robots are used for picking tasks, and since deployment have reportedly improved productivity, accuracy and site safety markedly.
The AMRs’ lightweight and mobile design allows GXO to reallocate them within the warehouse or to other facilities, accommodating seasonal demand changes.
