Tesco Distribution has reduced its manual handling incidents by 60 per cent, helped by a new bio-mechanics study.
The study, commissioned by health and safety company Pristine Condition and Tesco Distribution, measured the manual handling risk reduction when using Pristine principles across a number of Tesco distribution centres.
A ViSafe wireless motion sensor technology was used to measure movement and muscle activity during tasks before and after Pristine’s manual handling training.
“Pristine has a fantastic approach towards manual handling challenges and their training has led to a significant reduction in accidents, injuries and claims for Tesco,” said Tesco Distribution safety risk manager Simon Pritchard.
“Since implementing the Pristine Condition Programme, Tesco Distribution have achieved a 60 per cent reduction in manual handling incidents and are leading the way for supermarkets in manual handling best practice.”
