Tonight is the culmination of months of hard work by some of the most talented supply chain professionals around the world – the winners of the Supply Chain Excellence Awards will be revealed.
The Awards have grown continuously since they were launched in 1997 to become the benchmark for supply chain best practice. Not only do they attract entries from the UK and continental Europe but an increasing number come from the United Stated and Asia.
To become an Overall Winner is to join an illustrious band. Last year, Severn Trent Water joined this group which also includes: MAN, Jaguar Land Rover, Dell, Pepsi-Cola, Danone, Telefónica, Waterstones and Primark.
This year more than 110 companies made the short list. All the shortlisted companies are invited to make a presentation to one of our judging panels, made up of senior supply chain professionals.
It’s a challenging process – both for the entrants and the judges. Perhaps surprisingly, many of the entrants report enjoying the presentations.
I’m privileged to listen to the presentations and I am always impressed by ingeniousness, inventiveness and sheer will to win shown by the supply chain teams.
Innovation is a key theme of the Awards this year, highlighting the dramatic developments in both supply chain thinking and technology that is changing the market. And it is clear that rate of change is only going to increase.
Tonight will be a celebration of all that is best in supply chain and logistics. I look forward to seeing you there.
