Developer Tritax Symmetry is poised to secure planning for a 397,000ft² warehouse in Nottingham for Currys.
The proposals go before the planning committee at Newark & Sherwood Council next week with a recommendation for approval.
The plans envision a 397,000ft² facility comprising warehousing and office space on a 41-acre site north of Newark Showground near the A1 motorway which Currys intends to use to consolidate and grow its business.
Planning was originally refused by the council’s planning committee in 2021, as reported in Logistics Manager, but was subsequently allowed at an appeal.
The property would see a 376,175ft² warehouse with 21,000ft² of two-storey office space. The facility would have 18m eaves and benefit from 38 dock-level doors and 89 trailer parking spaces. There is parking for 307 cars and the scheme includes 62 EV charging spaces.
A report for the committee said: “The site benefits from an extant outline consent allowed at planning appeal for the proposed development.
“The reserved matters submission is therefore considered acceptable with regards to impact on visual amenity and is compliant with the parameters defined at outline stage.”
The council’s economic development department stated that the proposal ‘is a positive move for the district with job creation initially for the build process, and further skilled opportunities as well as roles in IT, engineering, warehouse operatives, HGV drivers, and administration staff’.
The scheme will also have a range of sustainability measures including a PV array, energy-efficient and motion-sensor lighting, electric vehicle charging points, and air source heat pumps.
