Plans have been lodged for two new warehouses at Markham Vale in Derbyshire.
Henry Boot Developments joint venture MVNE and Devonshire Property are seeking outline permission from Chesterfield Council to build two industrial units on a 68.35-acre plot at Seymour Lane in Woodthorpe as part of an extension to Markham Vale North.
The two new units will total some 731,881ft2 and will include ancillary office accommodation, service yards, internal vehicle, circulation and parking areas, covered cycle parking areas, pump house, sprinkler tank, gate houses and perimeter fencing. The site is close to Junction 29A of the M1 motorway.
Currently only two plots totalling 8.9 acres remain at Markham Vales which can accommodate warehouse units to 84,000ft2.
Letting agent is JLL.
“The Markham Vale North Extension, as a whole, will provide the opportunity for large numbers of permanent and temporary jobs, both in the construction phase and beyond, and will provide significant local authority revenues,” a statement lodged with the council read.
“The warehouse market in the UK and regionally in the northern East Midlands and Yorkshire remains strong and is likely to do so for some time.
“Levels of demand are likely to remain robust, and will outstrip supply for the foreseeable future. Should the additional land at Markham Vale be allocated for development, we believe that there will be high levels of occupier demand for it, particularly as there is limited development available in the vicinity.”
