Unilever will work with Chinese 3PL JD Logistics to pursue sustainable business initiatives in the supply chain.
The companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, (MoU), to create a framework to identify opportunities for innovation and sustainable growth.
The agreement also covers a shared interest to reduce plastic and support sustainable practices.
The companies will also explore opportunities to digitise the “Unilever-JD” system which will include recycling packaging, 5G delivery solutions and the development of “less carbon intense transportation”.
Unilever chief supply chain officer Marc Engel said: “Today’s agreement with JD Logistics is an excellent opportunity to drive future-fit supply chain solutions around the world.”
