Unipart Rail has awarded the contract to manage its vehicle fleet to Bibby Distribution extending a relationship that goes back almost 20 years.
Bibby provides out-based distribution services for Unipart, with vehicles based at Avonmouth, Hoddesdon and Glasgow to service local regions.
It has added a 13.6m triple-deck trailer to the fleet, which is used for the distribution of specialised train components, with six more to join the fleet in coming months. In addition, Bibby has also provided urban flatbed trailers for transporting rail bogies to less accessible delivery points. It has also introduced five tractor units converted to run on LPG.
Unipart Rail’s transport logistics manager Rick Moglia said: “We are pleased to renew our contract with the Bibby team, which has been on-going for nearly 20 years. They fully understand our requirements and are always looking for ways to improve their customer engagement and operational excellence. This fully aligns to our philosophy within Unipart.”
