British Gas was the overall winner in the 2014 supply chain excellence awards – and they will be explaining their award winning strategy at the Logistics & Supply Chain conference in March.
The government recognises that smart meters deliver significant economic benefits and improve the consumer experience. They further recognise that completing the national rollout will be an enormous logistical and technical challenge for the industry, involving visits to around 30 million homes and small businesses and installing over 50 million meters 2020. British Gas has taken a significant lead having installed over 1 million of the UK industry total target of 2 million by 2015.
As well as their own operational benefits and sustaining and improving their lead in an emerging market, this winning project is a fundamental enabler for a much broader vision, and one which benefits every single resident in the UK. Without supply chain initiatives such as this, the smart revolution in the UK, along with its climate and economic benefits, simply could not happen.
Supply Chain Standard’s 13th annual Logistics & Supply Chain Conference has presentations from leading supply chain professionals. It also provides networking opportunities for supply chain executives looking for the latest information, insight and examples of best practice.
