Work has started on a new 343,000 sq ft logistics and distribution facility in Sheffield following the appointment of a main contractor.
PLP has appointed Sheffield-based contractor JF Finnegan to construct its Smithywood scheme.
The 17-acre PLP Smithywood is located at Smithywood Business Park in Sheffield adjacent to Junction 35 of the M1 and was acquired from St Pauls Developments and the Norfolk Estate in April 2019.
The new building has been designed to enable carbon zero occupation by incorporating sustainable technologies such as roof mounted solar panels and multiple electric vehicle charging points.
PLP has appointed Commercial Property Partners as letting agent.
Matthew Fitton, development director at PLP, said: “Given the proximity of the site to the M1 motorway and Sheffield, PLP Smithy Wood will offer great accessibility and market connectivity. PLP has the confidence here to speculatively build one of the largest warehouses in the region.”
CPP have been appointed as leasing agents for the scheme.
