The Government needs to “work with us – not penalise the lorry industry” if it wants clean air, argued Road Haulage Association chief executive Richard Burnett.
He called for a scheme that works rather than having a collection of towns and cities with multiple standards and rules on for different lorries delivering to them. This will take a toll on the logistics industry, especially SMEs that won’t be able to match costs.
“Local authorities need a single framework. The RHA is perfectly placed to help guide government and local authorities to shape transport policies,” said Burnett.
