Third-party logistics company XPO Logistics has announced that, under a new contract, it will operate two warehouses for Crown Paints at its production sites in Darwen, Lancashire – which is home to the company’s headquarters – and Hull, Yorkshire.
XPO Logistics believes that this marks the ‘beginning of a new partnership’ with Crown Paints, which has been part of the Hempel Group since 2011. The logistics firm already works with Crown Paints’ parent company in France, having been distributing products from Hempel sites to shops and transferring them between sales outlets since 2018.
Dan Myers, managing director for UK and Ireland at XPO Logistics, commented: “Crown Paints recognises the importance of connecting to its customers through creating value in every aspect of its operation.
“This is one of the key reasons XPO was chosen as its long-term strategic logistics partner. Leveraging our expertise and technology, we will support Crown in delivering continuous value for its customers.”
According to XPO Logistics, its warehousing services will include: ‘receiving finished goods; picking, preparing and packing customer orders; and site-based shunting at Darwen and Hull’. It adds that it will also offer ‘other value-added services’ to ensure ‘the safest working environments in the industry’.
