XPO Logistics is to roll-out of LED lighting systems across some 53,819,552 sq ft of its warehousing space throughout Europe.
As a result XPO will install LED lighting across 75 per cent of its total space in Europe by the end of 2020.
The company had previously installed 10,763,910 sq ft of lighting before launching the initiative in 2018, and has since expanded the LED coverage a further 10,763,910 sq ft of transport and logistics space.
The lighting systems use sensors to detect movement and natural lighting to configure the optimal light for employees.
The company estimates that its LED initiative, when fully implemented, has the potential to save 2,200 tons of CO2 per year.
Malcolm Wilson, chief executive at XPO Logistics Europe, said: “By investing in eco-friendly solutions, we support greener supply chains for our customers and safe, comfortable workspaces for our employees.
